what happens if i break the little metal thing in front of the mouse port?

my abit vp6 didnt want to fit in my antec case cuz of the flexible metal in front of the mouse port, so i bent it and it broke...

If you mean the thin strips of metal mounted in front of the ports, then no, nothing serious. As long as the motherboard remains unharmed, everything is fine

i know it sounds funny, just that i am trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with my mobo and its mouse problems, and its like ive tried everything and i cant justify changing my abit vp6 into the msi or other dual mobo...since they are all via's

Maybe in bending the little metal part you loosened the ps2 ports? Just a thought...

yeah, but i tried a usb mouse too and got similar problems.

im convinced its this mobo and/or via chipset and SMP.

you think the mouse, the basis behind modern computer, would be error free.
