What happens if I add a wireless access point to ethernet connected computer?

I don't understand the question. Are you talking about having an ethernet NIC and a wireless adapter in the same system? That's pretty common, and on laptops where you can switch off the wireless with a case button Windows will use the ethernet if it's available. On a desktop system you may have to go in and disable the wireless adapter. I'm not sure about that.

I normally connect via the ethernet nic.

What happens if I add a wireless PCI slot 802.11 adapter to the same computer (and keep cable modem hard wired into ethernet nic on same computer)?

How does Windows choose internet connection, and where would I go to select one option or other for particular program or Windows in general?
