Just a ticket? Can this ticket be canceled if you present your license at court?

$75 fine in Tennessee, unless you have your driver license number memorized. It can't and won't be dropped.

Well, my drivers license number is my SSN. Isn't that the same for everyone?

$150 fine in NJ. Gets worse if you also forgot your insurance ID, and registration. Then we are talking 500 smackers.

Not in SC. I'm lucky in that mine is extremely easy to remember.

No, most states are starting to switch over to a different number (to keep your SSN from the wrong hands). Mine is still my SSN, but when it comes time for renewal that'll change.

Here in Texas you can get the ticket dismissed w/ a $10 court cost. Just show the judicial people your license.

In Kansas you have the option of getting a liscence with the random numbers like K00-87-0213, or you can get your SSN. In Arizona and New York, you get a randomly genrerated letter and number.

if it's your car and you have other ID it might be cause for a small ticket, but you should be on your way. Of course cops don't usually pull random people over to see if they remembered their license, so chances are you have something else to worry about.

New York used to have a system where the first letter of your license was the first letter of your last name, and the next two digits were numerical for the second letter in your last name. Then there were a bunch of characters and the last two digits were the last two numbers of the year in which you were born.

Joe Jones - born in 19 - would have a license number of J15xxxxxxxxxx-54.

This made it a little harder when borrowing someone elses license as fake proof.

Ive actually had this happen to me. In PA. I was pulled over for speeding early on a sunday morning taking my sister to work. I pretty much just got up out of bed and threw my shoes on and forgot my license. The cop just wanted my address and then he came back with JUST a speeding ticket. He didnt even mention anything about not having my license on me.

I live in PA and I never leave my keys without my wallet... but I'm really curious what that would amount to since most PA cops are teh suck

No. In fact, I've never seen a state use the SSN as the drivers license #. This is Virginia?
Needless info below:
In Oregon, the drivers license # is just the number in order of all the people who have ever gotten a drivers license in the state (mine is 7 digits long). Kind of like an ICQ #.
In Washington state (now this is whack so bear with), a person's drivers license number is the first five letters of their last name, their first initial, their middle initial, how old they were in the year 2000 (or 100 minus the year of their birth), and then a random number, then 2 random letters. Example: John R. Smith, born in 1981 would be SMITHJR194EW (last 3 are random). I learned this when I had a job checking ID's years back, their system makes it easy to spot some of the cheaper fake ones.

Even if you do remember your drivers licence #, you most likely will get a ticket for driving without a license (unless the cop decides to be cool), and it won't be dropped. Fine would range between $50 to $100. One nice thing is that it shouldn't show up on your insurance.
