What happens email addresses when you change host?

If I transfer a domain name from one DNS to another what happens my email address?

For example say I have a site www.blah.com and an email address: blah@blah.com. I change www.blah.com to point to another host/DNS, will I still keep getting my blah@blah.com emails or will there be a period of downtime while the DNS switches over?

You should have the same address through your new server. You may have to set up the user name though, through the control panel area.

The only thing that will change is where the name is directed (like DNS 12.24.24.124 to DNS 124.124.24.24) but your users will never notice the change, it is transparent to them.

edit: I recently changed my host, but I still have an email at david@blah-blah-blah.com, it is just through my new host. (blah-blah is not my real domain, LOL)

Shouldn't be any downtime at all; the old e-mail addresses will just forward to your default domain e-mail address on your new server until you set up the new addresses.
