what happened to windows media player 8 ?

Version 9 is all over the place, but version 8 is unavailable for download. Version 7.1 is available via oldversion.com, but there's no 8 there either.

WMP8 comes with XP because I didn't upgrade to 9 on that machine, and it's showing as 8.

ANyone have any ideas where to download WMP8 for WIN2k ? WMP9 is bugging out, even after many many reinstalls and only version 8 or above will play what I need it to.

I'm not sure that you can get version 8 for Win2k...I think you have to go to version 9...Me, I am still running 6.x and loving it...I really hate all the stupid crap that you have to get along with the new players. RealOne is just as bad.
