And why aren't people calling Rumsfeld "McNamara" anymore?

Oh yeah, the hippy sheep have started bleating about Syria being next and proof of WMD.

I still maintain that Rumsfeld is smarter than any of you dirty hippies!

Pretty is as pretty does...
I guess dirty hippies needn't wash their hands as often.
I once banged my toe on stupid rock and it smarted too.
Phonics has a lot to do with name calling.... like machinery and MacHinery

McNamara fought a war where the people believed in the leadership and hence fought on despite their disadvantage in weaponry.

Rumsfeld fought a war where the people despised the leadership and hence gave up at the earliest opportunity. If McNamara had JDAMs we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

Well this wasn't a Vietnam, this was a cakewalk. But I don't think too many people believed that the worlds strongest army was going to have a hard time with a battered third world country. But as for
Rumsfeld being all knowing. I think not.

Rumsfeld?s December 19-20, 1983 visit to Baghdad made him the highest-ranking US official to visit Iraq in 6 years. He met Saddam and the two discussed ?topics of mutual interest,? according to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry. ?[Saddam] made it clear that Iraq was not interested in making mischief in the world,? Rumsfeld later told The New York Times. ?It struck us as useful to have a relationship, given that we were interested in solving the Mideast problems

Whoops, missed that one, Don. Oh wait, but we got that oil pipeline built, though, so you're forgiven.

A syllogism must contain two logical premises to be logical...no?
The weapons of the Viet Nam Regular never misfired but the AR15's always did. The Francis Marion's of the south used stealth and we used wealth. It seemed to me the folks got along pretty well there once we left. They were somewhat related as in Korea.

You are the one calling people names.

My name calling was rather generic. Yours was rather specific.

Sorry if you still have dangling chad issues.

Unfortunately there is an abundance of idiots on both sides of this issue as your post clearly demonstrates.

read his book where he readily ADMITS much worse than that......

McNamara had superior weapons, it was his complicity in lying about the war itself that was drawing comparisons, which of course has turned out not to be true, much like everything the anti-war crowd espouses.

Interesting point within PianoMans original post - If you read down there's mention of 1984 helicopter sales - 60 of the Hueys from the 'Nam era.
This looks like we selling last years models as we replaced our own technology. We sold the Hueys to Saddam after we used them ourselves.

Nice call to the Piano Man !
