We were in Albuquerque earlier for an errand, and remembered that they just built a Jack in the Box. So we stopped in. I hadn't had a JitB ciabatta burger since leaving Portland a year ago.

To my horror, I looked through the menu and saw nothing. I asked the drive through attendant if they still had them, and got "The what?". My heart sank.

Alas, looking at their menu online.. it's not listed anymore. Did they kill them? NOES! They were far and away the best fast food burger on the planet..

Well, the ciabatta bread was excellent... It was JitB's "premium" burger. Of course it depended on the specific location you went to, but most of the time the lettuce was always a fresh single piece, with no large crunchy vein through it. Red onions were always fresh and crispy also.

I think the best thing was the sauce they used. IIRC, it was a "smoky cheddar mayonnaise". I always asked for extra. YUM! I posted a thread before about it, and actually received PMs thanking me for the suggestion. It really was good for fast food...

I was sad when they got rid of the sirloin steak ciabatta with mushrooms and swiss. That burger was amazing.

Haven't been there in age. If they don't have that anymore I don't see why I'd ever want to go again.
