Those used to look soooooo damn sweet, especially in blue. They don't seem to exist anymore on Dell's website.

*droools.....*

meh. The 3800's had perminant color on the whole model. Those snap-ons just don't do it for me.

Alright, the 4000's will do. Now all I need to do is find $1,637.00 laying on the ground, and I'm all set.

My company has 48 i3800s.

I think they stopped making them around January of this year. Our last one's were purchased in November of 00.

Heh. The 3800 was End of Lifed quite some time ago (December? January?) in favor of I think it was the i8000. The fun thing was, for system exchanges for a 3800 (system had issues that required replacement of the notebook), we'd have to call Sales and actually order a system (i8000) for the customer, as if it were a new order, and then have the salesperson write it off.

It was amusing to call up, identify myself as an L2 in tech support, order a system, then give a code to get the entire $3k written off :)

You work for Dell? I need a discount, preferably in the 98% to 99% range, if possible ;)

On a serious note, thanks for the info.

Yep they were made until a few months ago, my last job our last order were the 4000s but the one right before that were the 3800s.

I bought a 3800 last year... it ok was ok, but the video speed sucked... so I returned in and got the 4000, which has a much nicer video card...

I thought it was EOL'd in favor of the i2500. I may be wrong.

Had to reinstall the OS on two of them today.

I would much rather have an i4000 than the i3800 mostly because of the difference in video performance.

well, I suppose I've got no choice. If I went with the i3800, it'd be refurb, and apparently it'd also suck compared to the i4000's anyway.
