What happened to the Canon BJC-6000?

What happened to it? When I bought it, it was top of the line and then it vanished from the market a week/month later! It does do a lot of insanely loud and long tests that I would think would warrant a recall. Am I right that the thing was recalled?
 
oh, dont get me started on the BJC series.....i hated that POS BJC-4000, once you turned it on it took about 2 minute for the carriage to come out and align.
 
I wonder if there is a way to tell the stupid printer to not do the damn tests and waist all my time. One time I had woken up late in the morning for school and I still had to print out some essay for my exams, and I had forgotten to turn on my printer that night or beforehand so that damn thing made me tardy by 30 seconds to class. I had to serve a freaking half hour detention that day.
