What happened to my XP login/shutdown windows?

Installed XP on my new HD and I have "old school" login/shutdown windows instead of the more colorful and pleasing versions I got with my last two XP installs. I had a service pack install abort on me because of, ahem, product key issues - did the partial install affect the login/shutdown windows or is something else going on here?
 
I don't know, but you can change it back by going to User Accounts in Control Panel, picking Change the way users log on and off, and then Use the Welcome screen.
