What happened to my Ebay account?

Something really strange just happened to my Ebay account. I got a bunch of emails saying that I won a bunch of items and needed to send payment. I haven't used Ebay in months. I immediately checked "My Ebay" page, and indeed it listed 8 items I needed to send payment for. My Ebay account information was untouched, and I immediately changed the password for it and the email account it's linked to.

Almost immediately, a steady stream of message from Ebay started arriving saying:
"We're writing to let you know that eBay has ended the following item you were bidding on due to factors beyond the seller's control... As eBay removed the item, you are no longer obliged to send payment for it..."

I got this message for all 8 items, and My Ebay is no longer showing that I owe payment for anything. All the items were for electronics (cameras, cell phones, PS3).

Does anyone know what happened here? My PayPal account used a different password and was never linked to a bank account (always payed by credit card), so I think that's safe. Anything else I should do?

just call eBay first and ask if it's their fault

Do a full virus scan of your pc, using online one (like Bitdefender) and one on your computer. Do full antispyware, also.

I'd change all of your online passwords asap - on a different computer. Then format, reinstall.
