They made floppy drives, and then they made IDE CD-RW drives. They were among the first to do so, IIRC. (Other, higher-priced mfg's, like Plextor and Yamaha, were primarily SCSI.)
My first thought was they were gobbled up or a subsidiary of someone else (ie: matsushita).
According to the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsumi they seem to be focusing on console accesories.
They have focused their business on components and other products relating to communications. Drive assemblies are not in their basket - but some parts are.
