I have Mandrake 9.1 on CD and I wanted to get the latest version which seems to be 10.1 but it doesn't look like its free anymore...

I realize they changed their name to Mandriva (stupid name lol) and there is an LE2005 version available for download that seems to be free... is this a full-featured Mandrake 10.1-equivalent distro???

If not, what should I switch to?
I'm basically just looking for something FREE, with lots of stuff included out of the box (mp3 player, open office, browser) and that's more importantly EASY TO USE! I have some RedHat and Mandrake experience but I consider myself a linux n00b.

Also, if there's any distro that can access NTFS that would be a plus because I'd like to be able to interact with my storage HD although i'm not sure if this is possible!

Try Fedora core 3 or newer. It will give you most of the office applications and the all-in-one functionality of mandrake for a much lower price.

Mandrake, now Mandriva (after they merged with connectiva) still releases its distros for free. LE2005 is the newest version of the distro, yes, newer than 10.1 (which is also available for free). They can be downloaded here. Basically, what may have confused you, is that they release their new versions to their members first, and then to the public 1 month later.
