What happened to Ergonmic keyboards

My MS natural elite died a watery death.
I went to replace it (thing is only a year old, but it isn't like they are gonna cover spillage) and low and behold it is discontinued. Infact MOST ergos are now discontinued.
I am now typing on a flat keyboard and it hurts like hell.

What happened to the whole ergo keyboard movement.

Use two keyboards duct-taped together at an angle, one hand on each. 😉

eBay seems to have some of those used for $25 if you don't mind cleaning a little grime off.

I still see MS ergo keyboards at my local Walmart and BB. I wanted a wireless keyboard though, that tied in with my Logitech mouse's receiver, so I had to buy a slightly ergo Logitech keyboard.

I don't understand why this hasn't caught on with laptops. I have a MS 7000 wireless at the office and love it. a bit pricey but so is carpal tunel surgery.

Space considerations? I had both an original Microsoft Natural, as well as a Natural Elite. Those (especially original) took up a good chunk of desk space. Heck, I've even been considering using a 10-keyless keyboard!

As Zap points out, space is part of it, but shape or form factor is even more of a part. It would require that the laptop be much wider so as to accommodate the angled split.

Why not just connect an MS Ergo to the laptop's USB port?

i couple weeks ago i went in a storage room and threw out an oem pack of 6 ms elite keyboards from the 1990's, oops i guess i shoulda kept them
