"Don't Mop Your Floor with Dirty Water Again" Pine Sol, pulls dirt to the bottom of the bucket, allowing your mop water to remain clean.

Why can't I buy this stuff any more? How did this stuff work and is there any way to replicate this feature and or behavior with dirt and water?

For more information, see www.clorox.com or call 800-227-1860.

Tell us how you make out tortillasoup. ;)

I sent them an e-mail already, but I wanted to get some stuff done so I figured I make a post and see what others knew, etc. I'm thinking if I can get a hold of this stuff, I can use it for a carpet cleaner.

If it's not available, either it didn't ultimately work or was too expensive or caused lung cancer due to whatever the hell they had to do to make it work.

If I had to guess, whatever chemicals they used either shouldn't have gone down the drain or were killing people (or kids).

Not necessarily. It could be that they, like other competitors, are narrowing their lineups and removing overlapping product lines. I'm not going to dig for it now, but I remember an article from a year or two ago that mentioned how P&G was removing some lines in an attempt to shrink their supply chain and removing overlapping products.

I'm guessing it used some kind of flocculant that weighed down the dirt and caused it to sink (they use similar stuff in swimming pools, except it causes dirt to float). The product probably flopped due to performance issues or it didn't clean as well.

Heres what I do. Get a mop with a flat rectangular bottom (Swiffer dry or swiffer wet jet usually works). Then wrap a shop wrag around the bottom of it. Toss the cleaner and some water on the floor and mop away (you don't need a bucket and to keep going back and forth).

When you're done, just toss the shop rag in a bucket to wash in the washing machine.

You can get a grid for buckets to wash cars that helps the dirt settle to the bottom. Mopping is usually done AFTER sweeping or vacuuming to remove all the big stuff, so its not clear if its a "real" or marketing feature.

There are people naive enough to try a dangerous thing like that, and its not nice to be too helpful to Darwin.

I accidentally mixed beloved patriot and Span and ammonia at a job when I was a teen. Had to evacuate the kitchen :D

This is the message I got from them:
The product you are inquiring about is distributed nationally, and we can provide some general information about product availability that should be helpful. Mass merchandisers such as Walmart, K-Mart and Target, as well as major grocery chains are all likely sources. We'd suggest that you try these stores first; we would also encourage you to check with more than one store. Calling first to check if the product is on hand can save time. Finally, since the product is nationally available, your retailer may be able to order it for you. We'd recommend that you approach your store manager to let him or her know of your interest in our product.

Lastly, our products are exclusively in retail distribution. Unfortunately, we don't sell any products directly to consumers.

Again, thank you for contacting us.

Sincerely,
Consumer Services

I don't think they're bullshitting you at all. It's still in production, they're still selling it to distributors. If your local stores aren't stocking it for one reason or another, that's their loss. Buy it on Amazon.

But when you go to their website, they don't mention that feature at all.

People probably wouldn't want to buy something with methyl mercury that worked by plating elemental mercury onto the dirt causing it to drop to the bottom of the bucket.

A mere jest, no reason to sue here.

It used to be that like the ninth or tenth floor of the Clorox building was the hidden valley of hidden valley ranch fame. Elevator doors open and BLAM! you're in the hidden valley. Ranch freakin' everywhere.
