What happened to consumer grade pesticide?

It used to be that I can buy a can of Raid and a gallon of Ortho and spray a perimeter, and no bug would cross that line for weeks. Any bug that got spray on them, died instantly. Bugs kept their distance. Then five to ten years ago, something changed. The can of Raid nowadays barely work for more than 4 hours. I thought I brought a dug. But nope, the next bottle...same thing. The Ortho outdoor spray barely work more than a day, even less if the spray is exposed to sunlight. I might as well just buy borax and liquid detergent. Cheaper and works just as the same.

So what happened? Anyone knows? Regulations? Companies diluting the formulas?

Where can I get the old formula perimeter spray?

Edit: Terro works great, but I need a perimeter spray for the bugs seeking shelter from the heat.

There are sites that sell commercial products. Some products cannot be sold to certain states though. If the pest control industry has a lobby, and I would be amazed if they didn't, these sites will eventually not be able to sell these products to the average Joe.

I think the root of the problem is we all over apply these things, I certainly am included in that group. These chemicals can be safe when used appropriately but the majority don't use them appropriately.

Nothing personal but I'm against people that want a kills-everything type pesticide, because everything includes honey bees. They used to be everywhere and now I see maybe 4 a year and I am out in my garden a lot so would notice them. All my smaller bloom pollination now has to be done by sweat bees and wasps, while I still have bumble bees for the larger blooms... not sure why the honey bees seem less tolerate of pesticide but they do, something about colony collapse disorder.

Finally received the Taurus SC today. Don't worry y'alls. Knowing how Fipronil works, I'm only doing spot treatments. I only target ants, because they're relentless. They're even drinking from the toilet bowl.

by 'pest control industry' i assume you mean 'applicators', because the real big guns, the chemical companies, would want them as widely available as possible

Only restricted use pesticides are not allowed to be sold to the public.

Honeybees are dying because of disease and poor diet/culture in bee raising. Varroa mite was introduced to the US and honey bees are raised on one crop for weeks leading to poor nutrition and millions of unhealthy bees that are more susceptible to the mite all in a small area.

Honey bees are not native to the US or the Americas. Bumble bees (there are a large number of species), are the pollinator for many plants native to the Americas.

I've bought Cyanora 9.7 before online and it works great. Though I try to avoid using it, I'm not a fan of using chemicals but the spider problem in my house was so bad when I moved in I had to do something. Now that I sprayed the house several years in a row I find I don't really have to do it anymore. I avoid spraying plants with it because I want to minimize the impact to bees.

This is some serious stuff. Applied it Sat night and already seeing a huge reduction in ants entering the house. We couldn't leave an empty soda can or a crumb of food around without it getting swarmed with ants within an hour. If it's not food they're seeking then it's a water source.

Yup, very powerful stuff. I did three spot sprays along the ant trails, and 90% of the population got decimated in a few hours. Haven't need to use it since. Compare to Terro, Terro takes days with continuous monitoring...and with not nearly, not even close to the same results.
