What Happened to BFG Tech?

It seems like all BFG video cards worth buying (9800/2xx) have disappeared from newegg. I hope they are not going under as I have several cards that I am counting on their lifetime warranty on.

The 9800GT just came back on newegg, and strangely there is a 7900GS on sale as well (did not know they still even made this). Maybe newegg is just messing with their products.

Their cards are OK, I suppose, but as a company...it can rot in hell for all I care.

Only card I've ever had flat out die on my from either ATI or Nvidia was a BFG 7900GT.

What did they do to you?

As for BFG, I've never used their product. Same as Galaxy, Sparkle, Palit, and all the other tier 2/3 videocard manufacturers.
I generally only stick to the Sapphire or eVGA brand, only deviating recently a week ago because of the short supply of 4890 on the market made me settle with a HIS brand for $150.

BFG was great when I RMA'ed my 6600gt. The tech support guy was a bit reluctant in giving me a pre-paid shipping label at first, but eventually got me one. I was actually expecting the card to just have the HSF replaced, but they gave me another card with a different PCB. I have no idea what the differences might have been between those two cards, but the replacement I got worked out alright.

meh, I had a EVGA 7900GT die on me too. I'd probably attribute that to cooling issues though. the stock clock for the 7900gt was 450, and I had mine clocked all the way up to 550. Crazy, I know, but the card ran fine at that speed for a solid two months before artifacting and eventually kicking the bucket.

my BFG 8800GTS 512 worked well for 2 years and then partially die on me. 2D (windows, movies etc) was working, once i ran a game it crashed constantly after 2 seconds.
well, it was time for an upgrade anyway.

Remember, there are zero competitive NV offerings on the market - their smaller exclusive AIB partners will think twice to invest into anything they might cannot sell immediately...

My BFG GeForce 6600 GT OC served me well for a couple of years but was the only BFG I ever bought. They were too expensive compared to the other brands like Inno3D and MSI.

ROFL. It is bad enough so many here love a video card. But do not actually try to love your video card. I guess you could geta way with it if it is passive or water, but come on! :p

I've had something from every generation of nVidia card from the TNT thru the 8800GT with cards from STB, Creative, Asus, eVGA, PNY, and BFG and I've never had a failure and most have been OCed to some extent. (knocks wood) Maybe some people are bashing their cards too hard.

Same here, from the TNT to GTX275 (skipped the FX series). Only card that failed was a 7900gt that had faulty vid mem. But that was part of a larger problem that affected thousands of early 7900gt owners. Its probably the most rma'd card in Nvidias history.

Wow I just heard that they are quitting the video card business. Maybe the bad sales around this time (Christmas season) from the Nvidia card shortage did them in.
