What happened to Alpha's??

Does no one like alpha's anymore? All i hear people talking about on the forum these days are taisols, swiftechs, globalwins, etc... are alpha's considered out of date now? damn! i just bought my pep66t a month ago!

They're still good coolers, but have been surpassed in performance long ago.

The only thing they've done in the past year or more is update the bottoms and clips of their PAL6035 and PEP66. 😱 It doesn't seem they're that motivated to get another product line out. Go figure.

Although PAL6035's are $25 with a good fan, so you get better bang for your buck than alot of the near $40 copper coolers.

surpassed in performance? 😕

I don't think so. revision 2 clip PEP66s and Pal6035s are still among the best coolers on the market. The fact that they are among a handful of heatsinks that will perform will with a non delta 38CFM fan is an added bonus.

Still happy with my PAL6035 and my Tbird@1500 doing Seti@Home 24/7 at around 44-54C depending on outside temps!

I would probably get under 40 full load with a Swiftech MC462 though...

I happen to run an Alpha PAL35T on my P3. Great HS, awesome quality. But it HAS been passed in performance.

Performance is still close to the top, but there are other solutions which clearly outperform their line of coolers.

The price has come down alot on them though, which is a big plus. Good bang for the buck if you don't want the lowest temps you can get with aircooling.

Alphas are still among the best of non-enormous heatsinks. The 6035's are also more amenable to the use of 60-80mm fanadapters than many others.

Reviewers and enthusiasts seem to jump on the bandwagon for anything that's NEW!NEW! and trendy. Modern marketing easily overwhelms common sense.

I'm not sure that lowering the cpu temp by 2 degress C. is worth 3X the money and 4X the noise, though..... or that I want 2 lbs of copper hanging off my motherboard.....

Don't move it, you'll break it!
