Question What happened to all the old AMD graphics cards?

I'm looking on ebay for something like a r7 360, GCN1 and GCN2 stuff basically. I'm surprised how few there are for sale, and how high their prices are. ($80 for a used 360 seems kind of high to me these days) Lots of R7 250 low end pulls from OEMs but not much else.

I actually expected there to be plenty of these. Where are they? Burned up in the mining craze? Still in use?

I have one I need but was thinking of picking up a spare.

Well, those cards are aging pretty well and with the recent higher Vulkan / DX12 adoption rate, those cards took a second breath 🙂 🙂

HD7850 2GB is better than the r7 360, maybe you can find it cheap,
also the 260 and 7790 2GB are basically the same as the r7 360

I had a pair of 250X and 260X cards. The 250X were DDR3 variants (XFX sold at BestBuy), they were crap because of that. (In fact, 2D display @ 4K UHD res. had issues, due to lack of memory bandwidth.)

The 260X 2GB GDDR5 cards were way better. They were almost an RX 560 2GB in performance, and had no real issues that I noticed with 4K UHD 2D display for Windows Desktop.

Still have one of them, they're pretty beat-up, I mined with them, on micro-ATX mobos with dual-slot spaces, and they were dual-slot cards, and the fans kept stopping. Whether that was a bearing issue, or a driver issue, or a driver issue in conjunction with the mining software, I don't know. It certainly was annoying.

I'm having much better luck mining with my RDNA1 (RX 5700 blower reference) card, although there's only like a couple of mining programs that actually support it. (Claymore Dual being one of them, and one of the best. 49Mh/sec, without VRAM OC.)

Yeah, that probably opens things up for options. I actually expected a decent amount of cards for whatever I searched for though.

I already have a DDR3 250. It is indeed not a high performing card, it seems to be a hair better than the UHD630 iGPU.

still got a few R9 290X's kicking around... one is still in use under water. great for not-quite-as-recent 1080p gaming on the big screen

why do you want a spare, i have a box of old cards i think a few windforce 270x, not even worth my time to sell them. looked on ebay maybe can get 40$ but fee and shipping and my precious time to pack and drop off to post office and silly people who ruin things they buy discourage me.
