What happened to all the crazy laptop deals?

Yep! Much of the on hand inventory has been sold off, and new stock will be added very carefully. We are in a recession - but strangely, it has not really hit the computer world - they have done well. NewEgg's holiday sales were near record levels. There are still lots of good deals out there. A $400 laptop is really dirt cheap - that is netbook price. 🙂
 
If you know somebody who has a military STAR card (Exchange credit card, basically), you can get some really good deals on Dell laptops - base model Studio 15 for under $400, no tax or shipping.
 
you can still find them. check fatwallet and slickdeals and you'll see some pop up from time to time

 
I was just looking at Staples, Office Max and Office Depot recently for some other stuff and dug around in their laptop section for a bit.
They often have some OK deals at random times of the year.

Also, the Dell Outlet store has tons of stuff. Netbooks for $200. Laptops for $400. And even some decent misc. junk too.
