All I see now is 512KB L2 cache...

I have the 1MB cache version and I was thinking about getting another one...

Cash makes a huge difference ;) Cache on the other hand has a smaller impact on performance than the PR suggest in many proggies, and perhaps being able to turn off the part that may have defects in it allows them to get more functional CPUs off the line?

More Cache does make a difference, but it also increases production costs. Perhaps they decided to decrease the amount of cache in the 3200+ so they could make it more affordable.

More likely it's related to yeilds. The Newcastle chips are still the same ClawHammer core, just with half the L2 cache disabled. AMD gets more functional chips out of cutting the L2 and uping the clock frequency, than they do keeping it as is.
