What happen to anonymously on the internet?

aka what happen to over-protective in the internet? back 8 years ago i was in a pet forum, some user made a thread about "how old are you" turns out it was quite fuse and rockus.... forum staff says it is not appropriate since pet forum is a family site and many young people are here.

now 2012..... facebook..... even youtube now trying to encourage users to switch to full name. i was like what???? luckly they have option to stay with our alias but still.... what in a world? happending?

internet is real life now? in the past they were trying to protect minors..... now youtube is full with 10, 11 years old gamers. even 8 years old have facebook as i heard. ironic? in the past was over-protective now they wants everybody full names.

irony irony. two face.

pedophiles and trolls ruined it for everyone
Yep absolutely this. There is still relative anonymity if one tries, but it's all relative. Meaning if you're not a total ass you can stay hidden. If you do something truly dumb, nope.

Sorry but your very wrong.

The fact is most of you kids plaster thousands of photos of yourself on Facebook.

You use the same email accounts for everything... Johnny_coolguy_46@gmail.com

You use the same name on every forum you frequent.

You are on every social website known to man.

The ones who remain anonymous are the ones with a brain.

Everyone has a brain. Derp. Also. A lot of teens and college students use the same email for everything (even kids in ivy league colleges).

You can still be highly anon, you just need to make sure you do everything possible to disconnect yourself from your online persona. Use things like Tor, fake/anon emails, buy an anon vpn from a place like https://mullvad.net, don't use your credit card online, switch to bitcoin or liberty reserve, use those to buy amazon gift cards. I still don't know about anon shipping though, anon PO boxes basically don't exist. I wish they did, but you have to go through a lot of effort to get an anon PO. Basically a fake identity in order to register the PO in that name.

Those are just some of the small steps you can take. The more you know about computer systems and security, the better you can go about securing yourself online.
