Hey guys!
I am planning on buying a new vid card. My 2 options are:
ATI Radeon 8500 64MB DDR
NVidia GeForce 3 Ti-200 or Ti-500 (If prices will drop soon.)

Here is my rig...
Antec 300Watt PSU
IWILL BD100Plus Intel 440BX Chipest Slot 1
Aopen Socket/Slot convertor.
Intel Celeron II 128KB Cache 1000Mhz @ 1330Mhz 1.9Volt @ 133Mhz FBS. Socket 370.
Asus NVidia GeForce 2 MX-400 32MB SDR AGP (200/200) o/ced (277/251). 41xx on 3DMark2001.
Sound Blaster Audigy MP3 +

I heard that the ATI 8500 need lots of horsepower, DDR RAM, RDRAM, etc. And faster, stronger, CPUs.
I need your help! :)
Please tell me what you think!
Thank you! And have a nice day!

The 8500 is a far superior card, but you'd be correct in assuming that it needs computing power. As does the GeForce 3. So you may simply want to buy a Radeon 7500 or GF2 Ti for the time being.

Ok. There is no way I am buying a GeForce 2, or Radeon 7500. I want a GeForce 3 Ti-200 and higher. I just dont know which. I am also planning to o/c the Ti-200 past a Ti-500.
As of now, it looks like the Radeon 8500 is my best choice.
I also only have AGP X2....so keep that in mind.

Don't worry about it, theres barely any performance difference between 2x and 4x.

The first GF4's roll out next week, 2/6/2002. For most of us, that means by the end of February, 2002.

Where's he going to get that from Mingon? Never never land because as far as I know it's not been released yet?
>>

A GeForce 4? I won't even get near that untill I'll get a PC that will fully take advantage of it. For now, I will get the Radeon 8500. Should I wait and buy the 128MB version? Or the version that Hercules Prophet will release??
Thanks.

just get whatever is out now. The 128 meg cards won't help speed, if you want to save some money, get a 8500 OEM, you can overclock it well, and even if you can't, your cpu will most likely be limiting it some of the time too.

Yeah, thats what I thought. The CPU or the SDRAM. I will get the retail version. Don't like to deal with OEM parts. Should I buy the ATI version of the 8500, or Hercules Prophets?

I'd buy ATI's version since they have good warranty. I have one that I'm willing to sell. I emailed you about it.

Actually your wrong, no business in their right mind would ever say that something will be instock within 3 days, take it from me that would be commercial suicide because you'd get your ass sued. It actually says "3+ days" which means it could be instock in 3 days time but will probably take longer! :p

Rubbish - most major companies hold little stock and rely on 3rd parties to provide stock when required. Hence why land rover are in trouble at the moment, you never have more stock than is required and as watford, dabs and simply all use the main supplier I would be tempted to believe them.

Going with 128mb of ram would for me depend on two things, cost difference and how long b4 you upgrade again. If the price is a lot more and you plan on upgrading in the future then 64mb will do fine.

And how much I like hercules their prices are usually pretty steep for not much of a perfomance boost.
And I wouldn't settle for less then the ti200 or the 8500, your cpu will be a small factor if you plan on running games at high res.

The point was that Watford Electronics never said that they would have them in stock within 3days, that was just wishful thinking on your part. I know for a fact that they WILLN'T be instock until atleast sometime in the first week of March at the earliest and you can quote me on that!

If your going to get a Geforce4 then a company I can personally recommend is Watford Electronics, remember the full line of Geforce4 video cards will be available from March!

Ok,
After talking with my friends, and after your guys opinions, I decided to choose between these cards:

1) ATI Radeon 8500 64MB/128MB DDR
2) VisionTek/PNY/Other NVidia GeForce 3 Ti-500

Now, what will be my best pick?
