I decided I want a 970 from MSI for sure.

But..

Which one to get?

- MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GD5T OC
- MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING 4G
- MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 100ME
- MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GD5 OC

Which one is the best of these 4?

Gaming 4G. Gaming 100ME is basically the same thing with pretty leds and green paint.

Can anyone else confirm this? (psolord?)

I personally would get a Gigabyte G1, if it fits into your case. MSI gaming 4G also seems to be decent, but the Gigabyte is just outright sexy. A card where it's obvious they didn't save on anything.

THIS I call a graphics card. It's huge tho.

Actually as a coincidence I saved a lot of money today and could afford a GPU price in total of €800.
A 970 is ~400 for me, would 2 970's be a good performance? Or would I be better of buying something else (980?)
It also needs to be able to run on a CX750M without problems, since I recently bought that PSU.

It's cool that you managed to increase your budget, but better save it for your next upgrade, since waiting is not an option for you. :)

That doesn't really help much due to the fact that this game is also rather CPU-intensive. I know that I don't get 66FPS minimum with max settings; not by a long shot. Also, the game is more demanding than the benchmark.

There's a ton more benchmarks in that thread, lots of review sites, including ones that do it via in-game play rather than the benchmark (which is less intensive than gameplay).

On max settings, you need SLI Titan X class to maintain 60 fps at 1440p.

But you don't need to "max" it for the sake of it, because the advanced high res shadows and shadow lod is basically useless because soft shadow settings blur the high res shadow maps (crisp high res textures).

That's what I heard. 100 ME stands for 100 million cards sold.

Any of the "Gaming" series seems like a good choice.

Thanks again for your reply!

One more question before I actually buy the MSI GTX 970 4G Gaming.
Should I buy the 980 if I have a bit more to spend?
I'm willing to spend a total of ~€700, and with a 970 I 'only' spend 400.

Thanks again!

No. GTX 980 offers poor value for money, as is always the case with the top end card from NVIDIA (780 vs 770, 680 vs 670 etc). For 60% more cost you only get 0.5GB more VRAM (GTX 970 being practically a 3.5GB card) and a little 10-15% boost in framerates.

I looked into your system specs and noticed you have an R4 case. Do you recommend the R4/R5 cases?
I need to upgrade my current small case because it won't fit a 970.

Yeah, I'm still messing with settings to find the best balance. I'm trying to get locked 60FPS with V-Sync on (though it seems like a minimum in the 50s would work fine as well).

No. Because you will bite yourself in the butt come the next months and newer 6GB cards. With a 970, you'll be "fine" and the investment is still reasonable. A 4GB 980 won't solve potential problems with memory hungry games either..from that point of view you get MUCH better performance for your money from a 970. My $0.02

Thanks for your reply. I will go for the 970. I just hope the 0.5GB vram won't be a major difference in GTA V.

Definitely, R4 and R5 are both excellent for single GPU configs. With both drive cages installed, it won't fit the biggest graphics cards. MSI Gaming would fit fine, but Gigabyte Windforce would require removing the upper cage.

If you want a similar case, just as quiet with ever so slightly better cooling, space for large radiators for watercooling and the ability to have 6 drives in drivebays without blocking the front fan and plenty of space for any graphics card then you might consider the Nanoxia Deep Silence 1.
