Note: I play at 1920x1080 on a 60hertz screen.
Current video card: GTX 770, not getting the performance I want..

16GB RAM, Processor: i7 3770 3.4GHz, PSU: Corsair CX750M

Thanks in advance!

If you want 60 fps with advanced settings on (AA off) then you should go for a Titan X. A 290X or 980 will be very good but not perfect for you.

You're not going to get max settings. This game is just too demanding unless you're ready to spend big bucks. Just play around with settings until you find something which still looks great while performing well. Sorry, but them's the breaks. I know how you feel. There are a lot of settings in this game which you can change without making the game look any worse.

As long as you are OK with FXAA, a GTX 970 will be enough.

You can see my systems performance in this video if you want (spicy wallpaper alert)

Settings are all maxed out, except I am not using MSAA. Go to the end part of the game which I have recorded the Franklin and Lamar outdoors chase.

Grand Theft Auto V 1920x1080 v.high GTX 970 @1.5Ghz Core i5 2500k @4.8GHz

MSAA 8X brings 50% performance hit and MSAA+TXAA around 30%.

As for you cpu, I am not sure how Ivys are running this game, since I don't have one to test, but if you don't want to OC, you can try reducing the settings I show in this vid.

GTA V - CPU limited? Try this! (GTX 970+Q9550)

I would start with nothing less than a Titan X if you truly want max settings. Max as in Max including advanced settings etc

Check YouTube for some videos on how this game performs with a Titan X @1080p to get a rough idea. I prefer this to benchmark charts for this particular kind of game.

Other sections of the game are a lot more demanding than this. Also, I don't know if this is true for everyone, but this game is unplayable for me on my 60Hz panel with V-Sync off. The tearing makes me feel nauseated.

overclock your cpu and add another used gtx770 (180$) if you can. that's the cheapest way to get better performance

Works with my i7 3770 non k as well.Much more playable with my 970.Good video.

Adjusting those sliders made the benchmark glitch out for me lol.Last scene where the camera pans from the sidewalk to the Hummer driving away it sticks to the people on the sidewalk, they suddenly disappear but you hear all the sounds of the benchmark still till suddenly the textures go crazy .o_O

2x 770 is a lot better than 970?
770=350€, 970 400€ for me.

This would only be feesible if he has the 4gb model, he is already hitting a vram wall at 1080 on a 2 gb model

EDIT: quoted wrong person

You think my CPU will be a bottleneck if I buy a 970?

No arguments from me here my friend.

I am just showing what is possible on specific parts of the game, which are early parts, so everyone can test with their own hardware while monitoring their own cpu and gpu usage, so they can get a picture of what to expect.

Thanks man.

Your cpu is one of the best cpus around. Since it is a non K, I guess overclocking is out of the question, but still I believe it will be pretty much equal to my i7-860@4Ghz, since it has better IPC.

I wouldn't expect anything less than what you can see on my i7 860 video.

Grand Theft Auto V 1920X1080 v.high (fxaa) GTX 970 @1.5Ghz CORE i7-860 @4Ghz

Yes I have a video for everything! lol :D

So all in all, your cpu plus a GTX 970, without MSAA and maybe reduce the advanced distance a bit, will provide you with good gaming experience.

Still as people in this thread have advised, a Youtube query with the specs you are interested in, would be the best course of action. I provide what I can.

What would be best is see if one of your friends has a better card than the 770 and see how that works for you.

Was thinking the same thing when I watched psolord's video.
On my GTX 770 when I turn off Vsync, the tearing is insanely annoying.

@psolord thanks for your videos, I'm really close to buying a 970.

Also a 980 is better than a 970 (duh) but is the extra €250 worth the little extra performance?

Perf/€ the GTX 980 is terrible, and with the 980Ti coming out soonish(tm) I'd stay away from that card unless you want a severe case of buyer's remorse.

^ aaksheytalwar, RussianSensation: thanks for the feedback.

I have decided and it will be a 970.

Now.. There are 4 brands that make a 970: ASUS, Gigabit, EVGA,..
And a brand itself, for example EVGA has multiple versions of the same card.

Which one do I buy? (best performance)
