WHAT GPU ACCELERATES PHOTOSHOP?

Cousin needs a system that is fast for photoshop and some video editing, so far he's gotten Shuttle AK31 with Athlon XP 1700 and 512MB of Crucial RAM. Haven't decided on the GPU yet, I was thinking maybe a Geforce 3 TI 200 for $165 or would a Radeon do photoshop faster? What kinda hard do I need to make photoshop and other graphx app fast? Quadro?

TIA!😀

The Quadro and other professional level graphics cards are typically designed for CAD and 3D Animation, not PhotoShop.

For PhotoShop a Matrox G400/450/ or better yet a G550 would offer drivers with specific PhotoShop enhancements and better visual quality then either ATi or nVidia could match.
Outside of Matrox, then a Radeon would be better suited to high level 2D workstation use then the GF3.
Actually, as PhotoShop does not tend to be at all bandwidth dependent upon the graphics card a GF2 Ultra or 2 Ti can be slightly faster then a GF3 Ti500 is some of PhotoShop's larger filters.

RAM and processor are the biggest determinators of PhotoShop performance.

That sums it up pretty much.
