I finally am breaking down and gettign a GPS unit now that they can be had for under $100. From looking around a bit, I could be talked into up to $150 just because I might be getting greedy for sub $100 models..

I have fairly straight forward interests in a GPS unit.
1) Speech. "Turn left 500 feet from here, turn left 100 feet from here, turn left" type stuff.
2) I want the 1st person perspective to be available. Kinda like the first person shooter perspecitve, not a top down view of a map.
3) EASY to use. I want input to be easy and intuitive.
4) Some sort of mount. On top of dash or suction cups. Is this an extra that is bought seperate?

Also:bigger screen is bettter
I have no brand loyalty

From Best Buy, I noticed these brands:
Magellan (2)
Garmin (1) <=== BASED on people I have talked to and forum searches, Garmin seems too be the way to go.
Insignia™ (1)
RightWay (1)
Sanyo (1)
TomTom (1)
Any to avoid? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstempl...A%3E1900-01-01

EDIT:
2 wo-workers. Each have a Garmin and a Magellen. Both like the Garmin more.

I have a Garmin 250W and a TomTom One Classic (both are the UK versions so might be slightly different to yours).

I find the Garmin UI is easier to use but the tomtom has more features and is easier to update when you connect it to your PC. Not sure what you mean by first person perspective, both of mine have a perspective that is just behind and above the arrow/vehicle so it's more of a 3rd person kind of view.

They both came with the suction cup that sticks it to the window.

Ya, I meant 3rd person perspective.

Anyways .. I ordered the unit. SHould do everythign I want it to. Also bought a mount for it that sits on the dash. newegg had the model as a refurb for $100 so I took it.

I've had a couple GPS units, TomTom on the iPad, and use Google Nav on my phone, fortunately GPS is all pretty good now, but Lane Assist is really nice if you're in a metro area. (the TomTom I use on the iPad has it).

I had a Garmin Nuvi 205. It worked really well for me, at the time.

Of course I got a smartphone and now Google Navigation blows any GPS out of the water...

I just googled Lane Assist and it looks very cool. Definitely looks like it'd be very helpful. Wish Google Maps had something similar.
