Maybe this is just what I see at my job, but I'd say welder, pipefitter, or boilermaker. The real money is in the industrial applications.
Right on, if you can OP steer him toward more industrial/commercial trades. They pay better and in most cases the demand will result in more opportunities for him to advance.

Airframe technician/inspector is HOT! Companies and government are screaming for trained techs. There are jobs all over the country and techs are making $40/hr.

In my opinion we dont have nearly enough slender, caucasian escorts. I think all the best ones keep getting bought up by rich Chinese businessmen.

OP, honestly all those are going to be careers that are going to pay his bills and provide.

I do question how much longer unions can hold onto those careers because market forces overcome, but when that fallout does happen, your nephew could always go into business for himself. A one man plumbing or electrician business an be a great career.

Work ethic, drive and knowledge/ability are essential for making the most $$. Being someone else's grunt is never going to pay well.

Bro is a plumber and makes a crap ton.
Nephew does HVAC and makes a crap ton.
Step nephew is an electrician and makes a crap ton.
Welders here make ~$38/hr

$38/hour is a "crap ton"? Seriously?

Not being an ATOT baller.

But seriously, these are all great careers if the OP's nephew is not wanting to go to a traditional college, I'm not putting them down at all. You can afford a great middle class lifestyle with these with a decent amount of toys and provide for your family.

I dunno, self driving cars could destroy that career though. Also electric cars don't need much maintenance/repairs.

he could be a mechanic on something else. boats, airplanes, military equipment, maintenance/repair tech in a factory. lots of things other than personal cars need to be fixed.

This is S.C. My property tax for the house (1900 sqft), 2 vehicles and a separate 9AC piece of land was ~$1350.00 You can be pretty comfortable at $38/hr.

lol we pay about $1350/mo. in property/school taxes for a 100x60 lot.

lol = :(

And that is why we have so many retirees. They sell their place in NY and buy something twice as big here with $$ left over.

And your education system is way better.

Yep, not all mechanic work is automobile. I was going to say look into heavy construction/mining equipment, like a Cat Dealer service tech. A lot of Cat dealers have programs with trade schools or community colleges.

So you could classify that as a "comfortable" salary? I would agree. But not a "crap ton."

Yes, I'm debating the definition of "crap ton." How petty of me. Welcome to ATOT.

:D

Don Trump (a Texas sized crap ton) would say no. One of my SSI customers ( a dixie cup sized crap ton) at $800/mo income would say yes.

Personally, being that I'm debt free, I could probably make it on $20k barring any major problems, the kid's $6K private school... An extra $60K looks pretty damn good.

But whatever, I'd rather get rid of transplants around here than attract them. Old idiots can't drive and they bring their shitty politics with them.
