Well, AGP 8x doubles the bandwidth of AGP 4x (1.05GB/second) to 2.1GB/second between the videocard and system RAM and the CPU. But, games out right now don't even saturate the 4x AGP bus let alone the 8x AGP bus. That may change in the future but by then we'll be at 16x AGP (4.2GB/second). I hope this helps.

anyway, AGP 8x(AGP 3.0) will be the last of the AGP before it gets replaced by PCI Express
