What Good are Extended Warranties?

I bought a used car with 46000 miles and bought a 48000 mile extended warranty. Check engine light came on today so I took it to the dealer. Vacuum problem not covered under the warranty. WTF???

Was it an extended bumper to bumper from the original manf. or was it one of those cheap 3rd party ones?

It's not issued and honored by the manf. then it's usually not worth the hastle.

Third party issued by the dealer. I'll be calling the dealer and the company. But it is bumper to bumper.

If it was a HOSE or seal it would probably qualify as normal wear and tear, which is not covered.

Yeah a hose. I see your point. I wouldn't be so pissed if I hadn't just gotten rid of a piece... My last car had 55000 miles and the timing chain broke causing damage to the engine.
