I bet it's a Sonic Boom.

i suppose it could be. i've never heard one before, but with andrews air force base not too far away i suppose it is reasonable.

Sonic booms dont even last that long, I dont think. I remember hearing them when I was a kid. Is 15-20 seconds actual or expression? Thats actually a long time....hold your breath for that long.

yeah i'm sure it was at least that long. i tried to be conservative. i turned off my laptop and turned it back on during the rumble. in and out of xp.... so i guessed.

Ha-Ha, well if ur machine is as crammed full of crap like mine, it would definately be more than 20 seconds out/in of XP, LOL!!!!

there is thunder on and off now, but i _Swear_ that wasn't it.

Sounds like its time to panic. I recomend tearing off all your clothes and running screaming into the street.

but it hasn't happend again, so i guess things are ok. i still wonder what that was.

It's called rolling thunder. The storm is now passing over me here in VA.
It does sound odd I grant you, but I happen to like it, the dogs don't care much for it though.
