Protests Underway
WASHINGTON (AP) - Protesters chained themselves together, set tires on fire, and harassed police with false 911 calls Friday in an effort to shut down the nation's capital as financial ministers from around the world began a weekend meeting.
City police, who brought in reinforcements from as far away as Chicago and Lowell, Mass., arrested 21 demonstrators who chained themselves together in a busy downtown intersection, jamming morning commuter traffic, police Capt. Ralph McLean said.
Fire trucks were called to put out tires set ablaze on the outskirts of town, and protesters broke windows at a Citibank office and tossed smoky flares during a clash with police at another intersection. "This is not a police state, we have a right to demonstrate," the protesters chanted.

What kind of moron ties up emergency services lines to protest? How many true emergencies encountered a busy signal because these idiots decide that this is one way to disrupt the lives of ordinary citizens that just happen to live or work in the Nations Capitol? I am sickened by what these people are doing here today and it in no way reconciles with their rights as enumerated below.
How do they reconcile these actions with this:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
