I play mostly FPS and my crappy 2.1 set up just isnt doing it for me anymore. I have standard sound from my mobo ( I think it's in my signature..) and I am looking for a decent set. I saw a few pairs on new egg, but I wasn't sure what the best value was. What do you guys use and where did you buy them? Thanks.

I got a set of Logitech G930 simply because wireless and long battery life were paramount to me, though there's nothing else particularly remarkable about them imo. Logitech support has been very good to me though so there is that as well.

I purchased the soundblaster tactics alpha last year for $50, loving it! Great sound, great bass, and you have the option for analog or digital (via USB dongle)

steelseries Diablo 3 headset which is basically a differently colored Serbia V2

TBH i almost never use it, and when i do its mostly for the mic only, I have a very nice 2.1 setup on my computer and like it loud, vert very loud

I use an older Plantronics headset that I really like. It's only a $30 headset, but it's always had a good sound!

I'm using Sennheiser PC 350 headset. I'm very happy with them, just needs a soundcard with amp for them (bought a Asus Xonar DG for dirt cheap since my X-fi didn't have an amp to drive them). I've always used Sennheiser and never been disappointed. Have a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's that are great as well, but using a clip on mic with them was a pain.

Not really a gaming headset but this is what I use at home: Sennheiser HMD 280-XQ. Be aware, it definitely needs a mic pre-amp and a headphone amp to get the best sound.

At work, I use a Logitech G35.

Hmmmm DO 5.1 (or Higher) headsets really work?
Brushing up with Borderlands (wating for BL2) and I love playing with headsets and NEED to hear the bad guys coming up behind me. I always thought 5.1 (or higher) headsets were a scam.

PS... NOT looking tio spend $100 or more on a headset. I am using a Logitech 2.1 right now.
PS Must have mic.

Looking forward to the replies.

Hmm I saw that Corsair headset on sale at Newegg the other day (I checked and it still is $59.99 after $10 mail-in rebate), and I've been tempted to pick them up. With the glowing feedback here, I might be more tempted now! My only worry is that I have a rather large head, which causes some headsets to be a bit uncomfortable. How is the V1500 with that?

I noticed a few people mentioning needing positional audio. I'm guessing that you don't have 5.1 setups hooked up to your PC? I only use my headphones when I need to use my mic as well, so if I'm playing a FPS solo, I'll just use my 5.1 speakers. A good game should take advantage of your rear speakers, but I've found that some don't. :\

Was about to make a thread then I saw this one.

Are there any gaming-worthy headsets out there that have a mic and use Bluetooth? Every wireless one I see is USB, which won't do me any good when I want to switch over to a tablet/phone. Searching is proving difficult cause I keep finding phone earbuds instead.

They are now 79.99 AR :-( There are so many choices!!! ahhhhh. The Logitech wireless set got so many reviews though, it's hard to say no. Wirless would be nice just so I dont have cords running around all over the place, although if just the fact they are wireless makes then almost double the cost of those Corsairs..Then I'd probably just get the Corsairs.

I bought the Corsair headset. I've been wanting to get a headset for my second computer, and since my Plantronics work fine, I'll just move them to my second computer (if I like the Corsair one). Plus, the Corsair headset fits in with my Corsair Obsidian 800D case, Corsair H50 water-cooling setup and Corsair Vengeance K90 keyboard. :p (In other words, I own a bunch of Corsair stuff already... what's one more!?)

I clearly didn't even read the documents that came with my Corsair headset when I bought it and plugged it in. Didn't even know it had driver software. Need to grab that now and see if I can turn off the light on the cable volume adjuster since it stays on permanently... er, hrmm, now I'm thinking I recall it being on while the computer is off so I don't think software can even change that behavior.

I have the G35s as well but I think the drivers started dying and the foam ear surrounds had the covers disintegrate on me and I was leery of replacing it with another if the foam was going to go again on me in 8-10 months. Loved them though.

I use a Corsair Vengeance 1500. Previously had a Corsair HS1A, which went bad when the mic started to crack and pop. Sent it in for RMA and got a shiny new 1500, worth more than double at the time. It suits me well, and Corsair customer service has always been top notch.

I've heard good things about the SoundBlaster Recon 3D Omega set so I'm saving up my amazon gift cards for it.
