Ya strcraft. We played quake2 at school(p133 32mb ram) so I guess maybe quake or quake2. Jedi knight: dark forces2 was pretty good(on my p166MMX)

P133 w/ 80MB of RAM, hmmmm...
Is it true that you actually lose some performance when going over 64MB of RAM for the Pentium Classics?

starcraft is a good lan game. Don't try AOE2 because we had a 200mmx with 64 meg on our network and it was a dog. Some of the older FPS games may work if it has a garphics acclerator (Tribes)

You don't need a CD to play Q2. The last release (3.20) does not require a CD in the drive to play.

You could also play DOOM and DOOM II. And probably Duke Nukem 3D.

Quakeworld would be my best bet on a P133

Also:
Command & Conquer - if you like blocky graphics :)
Red Alert
Starcraft
Quake2 with a 3d accelerator - voodoo/voodoo2
Duke Nukem 3D - if you can stand the 2D sprites

To answer the pentium classic / ram question:

Some of the old pentium chipsets can only cache upto 64 MB of RAM in the L2 cache (on the motherboard). Specifically, the TX, FX, and VX chipsets automatically disable the L2 cache if more than 64MB of RAM are present.

On the other hand, the HX chipset does not have this limitation and can cache a lot more (not sure how much) RAM, like maybe 512.

A 133 probably does not have HX. My old 120 had FX, my old 200 had HX.

But, for a laptop, I recommend more memory even if it means disabling the L2. On a desktop, I would stop at 64.

That's not true. The L2 cache is not disabled, it's just that RAM addresses above 64MB are not cached in the fast static RAM of the cache, but rather in the slower system RAM. So on those chipsets you will see a performance hit of maybe 2-3% if you have over 64MB of RAM.

Since it's a laptop, you maybe don't have a TX, FX, VX, or HX chipset. You might have the MX mobile chipset, not sure about the cacheable limit for that one, although I have seen laptops with that chipset ship from IBM with up to 104MB of RAM.

he he you guys rule. now I just have to find these other games.

BTW my P133 laptop is playing fine at 640x480 I think theres a wat to allocate more ram to the video using the free program Aaaaaaaa Ummmmmm I forget the name of it.

You don't need to allocate more memory to video - 640x480 at 32 bit color only needs 1.2MB of video memory, and 16 bit color at that resolution needs only 640kB of video memory.
