What games will have online multiplayer capability on Wii?

Both xbox and ps3 have well defined multiplayer capabilities, but I haven't read anything about that for the Wii. Wii Connect seems to be a good idea, but it's more geared towards updating channels, msging and game updates rather than online gameplay. And frankly, I don't see that much point in the Miis. So are games left to themselves to support online play?

None of the launch games are online enabled for the Wii, and none really for the foreseeable future (3 months out). Also, word on the street (a.k.a. internet) is that the Wii will use a modified version of the DS online component, which most likely will mean the return of the idiotic friend codes. This is speculation, of course, but if you bought a Wii for online multiplayer, you should've done your homework first.

well it's unfortunate for something that has wifi support out of the box as well as an innovative controller. And it's 2006.

I can see the Wii using the Wii code for connecting to other gamers. It's really stupid though, why not just allow the user create an alias instead of dealing with number ids? It almost seems that Nintendo is discouraging online play.

I don't really think it's going to lower sales by any perceptible amount. Especially considering that it's possible to play online MP on Wii, just not widely supported. I dunno, I guess that's why I exclusively have friends in real life. Four controllers FTW.
