What games have I missed out on?

So I finally finally FINALLY upgraded from my Gf3 Ti200 -> 6800GT OC, and I want to know what I've been missing for the past year or two even. My system isn't complete yet since the 6800GT's in my Dell 2.4, 512mb ddr333. Waiting to pick out a case/ram/sata drive for that 3200+ Deal that was around months ago.

So yeah, your recommendations, let me have them! (No sports though, and I already have WoW, FarCry from that bundle, and planning on HL2 eventually~)

HL2 is the big one I think. Anything it lacks in gameplay, it makes up for in eye candy. I spend half my time just looking at everything still, and I've had it since it came out. Still haven't beaten it!

Yes to Painkiller, for sure. Don't bother with Doom3, TV, or Myst4 though. Myst is an aquired taste for one, and for another Ubi broke it anyway. TV supposedly isn't as good as previous tribes, and really it's not that great. Doom3... It's the daikatana of this generation. And if you don't know what that means, just don't touch it.

Let him play the games and make his own opinions. Doom3 got extremely high ratings in comparison to Daikatana. I'm not sure where you got off making that statement. TV has the BEST single player of any Tribes game in the series and the multiplayer is heavily argued. Some call it better, some call it worse, but it is mainly preference. Myst4 is regarded as the return to the original Myst series. The plot follows the originals closely and the puzzles are equally great. Myst4 is a 'have to get' for any Myst fan.

Regardless, I just listed any decent buy over the last year, was trying not to include my opinions.

What an incredibly stupid thing to say. Just because *you* didn't like Doom 3, doesn't make it equivalent to the crap that Daikatana was. Doom 3 was creepy and a very fun sci-fi shooter romp IMHO. Get over yourself already.

Sorry, it's just that I don't particularly care that bashing Doom 3 is in "style" right now.

Well it just depends on what kinds of games you are into. One guy was telling me he played Doom 2 and so that's why he bought Doom 3. But he also plays WoW, so after about a day of Doom 3, he threw it down and uninstalled it. Dunno...

I don't see how doom3 got high ratings. The phrase for the day is "tech demo". The game got boring fast. The graphics aren't as good as say, hl2(or even max payne2 really). The multiplayer is just as bad as the original doom. It's not worth paying for, that's for sure. And don't always trust big name reviews. Even gamespy has their most overrated list where they admit to rating a game waaaay too quickly. If you are reading reviews today of a game released yesterday, don't expect them to be accurate.

Doom 3 was fun, if you play it it as a sci fi horror FPS and not as a RPG/FPS hybrid like we are used to. No, it does not have character development but there are somethings in it that will make you jump if you play it at 2 in the morning alone.

You will love the game. There are some bugs, but a patch is coming out within the next month or so that's hopefully going to make the game even better than it is now.

Doom 3 was just trying to recreate a Doom 1 where you just walk around and shoot things. I'm guessing most people expected something like Half life where you solve puzzles and travel to vast and different areas. Just because it's not another Half-life doesn't make it bad. There are plenty of players that have actually enjoyed Doom 3 so it isn't a complete waste.

Don't make me do side by side screenshots again. Doom3 is crap for this generation. Max Payne 2 looked better IMO. I couldn't get over how terrible the shadowing was in the game while I was playing it. And to top it off, the last level broke on me so I could never beat it. Personally, I would never recommend it to anyone.

Call of Duty & CoD:UO good? I see one rec. for UO. I played CoD on XBOX and wasn't impressed at all, probably because I just finished Halo 2 and the controls for CoD were terrible.

How about Medal Of Honor: Pacific Assault?
