What games do you use a gamepad controller for?

Tech purchases have been few and far between lately, so I splurged on one of these. I'm playing more and more games these days, and thought it may come in handy. I will say that I'm a keyboard/mouse guy basically because I don't even own a console. After I got this thing I fired up the original Rainbow Six Vegas (because I remember it has an in-menu option for the 360 controller) and away I went. It was a pretty hideous experience, but perhaps I just need to learn the thing better. Also pulled up Flatout 2 for fun and was at least able to steer semi-decently. I've got a wheel and pedal, but it can be a pain to break out sometinmes.

Anyway, would you guys be willing to list some games you like playing with this type of controller - just so I can have some sort of reference base?

I use my 360 controller for DiRT, rFactor, Assassin's creed, and that's about it.

I've had a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 for a few years (DualShock 2 knock-off) and mainly use it for GameTap games. Lately been using it for Assassin's Creed. The gamepad works great though, but if the 360 wireless worked with the PC at the time I would've gotten that. I love that 360 controller.

I just bought the wireless Rumblepad for older games like Resident Evil 4, TR: Anniversary, Top Spin 2 and NFS: Most Wanted. I am mainly a kb+mouse guy too for multiplayer but not much titles out there now that interest me. Thinking about getting an Xbox Elite.

Wireless 360 controller here.

Get a copy of "Geometry Wars" from Steam for like $5-10. You hit a "trance" at about 100,000 points. :)

I use my for emulators as well. It will typically present itself as a joystick to the emulator. You just bind the various joystick axis to the controller. Works fine.

I use it for emulators. It's perfect for pretty much any emulator, as the 360 controller has enough buttons for everything.

On the contrary, it's terrible for any 2D games because the D-pad on the 360 controller is such a piece of crap.

I use the controller for racing games mostly, such as Trackmania. Geometry Wars on Steam is a great recommendation, though.

When I got a 360 I rented a buttload of games for it. Only liked Gears of War and Test Drive Unlimited. Both of them are available for Windows.
Gears of War doesnt play quite the same with a keyboard and mouse, but I hate playing ANY shooter with a gamepad.

Test Drive was sweet with a gamepad, and thats what I use.

For me the only reason to have a gamepad is racing games, some sports games (not golf, the mouse is far superior there) and console emulation.

Sounds good, guys. I appreciate it. I was surprised to see DiRT got a few mentions, as I assumed more sim-like racing wouldn't be conducive to a pad. I realize its not a hard-core sim, but still. Assassin's Creed maybe also (later). Emulators? I'll have to research them.

Sorry to hijack the thread but can PS3 controllers be used on the PC also? (when connected to the USB cable)

I bought one solely for Street Fighter 2, but I also use it in Geometry Wars. That's about it...

 GT 1-5 for the Playstations is pretty sim-like and they have always used a gamepad....

Anyways it's great for any game that is ported, especially the POP series!

DiRT is not a sim game. Not even close. rFactor is a sim game. DiRT is a "My car has magic brakes" game.

So for games like Gears of War and Rainbow 6 Vegas for PC, if I use an Xbox360 controller, are the buttons and controls exactly the same as playing them on my 360? Just wondering if I should pick up these games for PC for better eye candy.
