What game is this?

I think it was a Hexen but I saw it on TV show a long time ago when it was a first-person view, and the character selects a book, flips it open and draws a pentagram on the screen with its finger and it kills everything on screen. Do you have any idea what game this is?

If it was kind of new graphics, then I'd agree with Bruno and say it was Arx Fatalis
