A girl in an on-campus computer lab was trying to use a scanner in one of the four computer labs. She had her document in the scanner and was clicking the scan button, walking out of the computer lab, and standing in front of our main color laser printer. She tried this three times, and was very frustrated.
"Excuse me, this printer is out of toner."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course I sure, it says it on the display."
*Looks at display that reads "Ready"*
"It isn't out of toner."
"Then it is out of paper. Can you refill it."
"It isn't out of paper."
"Yes it is."
"No it isn't. What are you trying to do?"
"Copy my document."
"This is a printer, not a copier."
"I know, I have my document on the scanner in the other room."
*Walks to other room*
"See, it isn't working. I am trying to make a color copy!"
"Are you logged into the computer? Did you scan it or copy it using Adobe Acrobat or HP?"
"Logged in? No. Why would I be logged in? I just need a copy."
Keep in mind, this is a computer lab with ~200 computers, four rooms, one high capacity black and white laser printer per room, and one central high capacity color laser. She expected a USB scanner connected to a computer in one room to magically print to the color laser in the proctor room.
