While gaming made funny whine and went black. Quick reboot button does not now work. Manually shut down and restart, fans start up but no beep code and no other noises such as floppy or hard drive seek, with spare vid card did get no signal message on monitor. Anyways checked vid card on another computer and works fine.

No burn marks or anything visible - I figure cpu or motherboard. Have an intel and don't know anyone else with one. Any other ideas? Am close to upgrading, but this is a nice second computer - still ran games well.

Asus p4p800, 2.4c at 3.0 (maybe I payed the price), antec sonota, memory mix, x800xtpe.

I too think it's the mobo or cpu.

At least you were planning on building a new rig. Make the next one a beast!

Normally you should see bootup screen especially since vid card is ok. No beeps is not a good sign. mobo maybe burnt.

btw nice cpu and mobo...hehe.

Well it was a nice cpu and mobo. 😱 The annoying part is it was very stable with mix and match memory and I wanted it for a second computer. Now to find a cheap agp mobo and cpu. Oh well got 3 years out of that oc.

Ok before I pull the plug, is there any chance this is a power supply issue? Don't want to pull a friends computer apart to try the power supply unless a chance this is it.

I've heard that noise on a 875 chipset mommaboard and had it be both CPU and mommaboard.

Sometimes when I mess up, I do it right! 😱
