Edit:

What Fresh Market coffee should I buy?

Ok so it sounds like Blends won't really make all that of a difference

I only have $10 to spend and would like to not have to spend all to much more ±$5

Really never buy a lot of coffee, and just got a french press

Thanks again

Old Title: Buying some coffee trying new flavors

Trying new flavors normally I buy the Starbucks Anniversary Blend

I received a $10 giftcard for The Fresh Market
I was looking at either buying the JAMAICAN BLUE MOUNTAIN BLEND or the KONA BLEND COFFEE

Which would you buy? why?

Thanks a bunch!

Kona coffee is smooth, silky and fantastic, but a Kona "blend" can be as little as just 10% actual Kona beans. The other 90% of it are standard Columbian and Central American beans, which are nuttier in flavor and can really overpower the Kona.

I'd chose the Jamaican blend only because I think that combination of beans would go together better.

Just my $0.02

Having tried 100% Kona and 100% Jamaican Blue Mountain before, I thought the Jamaican Blue Mountain was much much better - in fact, it's probably the best coffee I've ever had. Though it's too expensive to get routinely. As KMc said, blends don't really give you a true picture of what the coffee tastes like, as they only have to put 10% in. Generally there isn't even a price difference between the Kona/Blue Mountain blends and all the other coffee - which tells you right there that it has a low amount of the premium beans in it.

If you're going to get a blend, it probably won't matter which one you get. I've tried 100% Kona Peaberry and that is the smoothest coffee i've ever had...almost too smooth if there is such a thing.

I've never liked any Kona coffee I've had. I think it's overrated, and over priced. I guess that leaves Jamaican by default.
