Hey guys,

Not looking to be Ahab the Cyber Pirate here..I just need to record about five lessons that are streamed from a church in another state so I can watch/listen to them according to my free time. It's a long story, but I basically have missed the first five lessons from a really good pastor, and I need to just record them and burn that to a CD so I can listen while I drive.

All help is appreciated, and thanks to anyone that can help.

So...in a nutshell...what applications are best at recording streaming audio and video?, and does that same app convert the audio to AIFF or MP3 files?

Also, is there a website devoted to this kinda thing? I'm sure I'll have more questions once I try to make this work. (this is not my comfort zone believe me...heh...I'm much more an artsy guy than Techno Master Digi-Genius )

Thanks again, and hope to read some good answers soon,

According to its FAQ, Audacity doesn't automatically record streaming audio.

Sorry i didnt see the audio part. What sound card do you have? My Audigy which is about 8 months old has a option that says record what you hear in the creative recorder

My sound is just onboard sound on my Matsonic mobo.

I have an EPox 8RDA+ new in the box (long story), but that doesn't help me either.

I KNOW there are apps that do this, but forgot where I read about it. Is StreamRipper one?, or is that on the mac side? I use both platforms every day.

Keep the help coming guys, I really appreciate it.

I have used Hypercam to capture just what you are talking about.

http://www.hyperionics.com/

There is a free trial which will place a Hypercam watermark on the replay but it works, just select the area of the screen to capture and start it.

You can use a program called "hidownload" which allows saving of files from mms / rtsp sources
www.hidownload.com

there's also another program which is not so legit called "streambox vcr suite" which has more advanced features but they got sued by real networks etc. and now the software is no longer available for purchase..... but there is a huge underground following for this software

..just so I don't sound like such a pirate -- I use these programs to save audio lectures given out at uni -- the streambox thing allows conversion of ra files to mp3 at faster than real time

Thanks you guys. I'll look into all of those and I'm sure one of em will suffice.

Thanks again, this really is to capture lessons, and nothing questionable.
