...it has an incredible MOD?

I haven't played the MOD'd versions of any FPS, what should I look for?

I hear Crysis has some amazing mods. HL2 also has some great mods for visual aspects, as well as a coop mod. Stalker Complete is a good enhancer. I think there's a Doom3 tech remake of the first 2...

Depends if you mean graphical mods/new levels or full-blown conversions.

On the gfx/engine side, I'll mention:

Quake + eZQuake
Doom + Doom Legacy

I'm thoroughly enjoying replaying Fallout NV with MODS. If you're interested, PM and I will give you my list.

Yeah, the question is which mods do you want! Moddb has a great selection and places like fileplanet make downloading and installing easy. There are graphics mods, new level mods, and even complete remakes that use the game engine to produce a completely new game. Its best to do a Google search for each mods for each game.

The graphics in Crysis are already top notch, but there are mods that give you more realistic things like weather, star constellations, and even a glare from the sun that will blind you. Check out Crymod.

Half Life 2 "cinematic mod" is awesome, but some people don't like it and its an 11 gb download!

I would also suggest trying FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod for Half-Life 2 and both Episodes, but be warned that the mod is almost 9GB, the latest version is 10.90. Supposedly there's been a recently released "Light Edition", but the only link I know of (from the official web-site, namely cinematicmod.com) leads me to some non-English site where I need to be registered to do anything, but anyway I wouldn't try the "LE" edition, if you do try it go for the full version. Be warned that you NEED a 64-Bit OS for it, and carefully read the installation instructions, or else it screws things up, it's a gigantic mod.

See, now, this is why I love PC Gaming. The modding communities make it all worthwhile.

There are some killer mods here. Thanks.

Also make sure you skip whatever parts change the appearance of Alyx because the mod makes her look like a $5 hooker.

Fallout 3 is much closer to shooter with story than RPG.
And with mods it can be even closer a shooter.
Ditto New Vegas, which has a bunch of new weapons and data for all the old weapons in the system files, all you gotta do is add them to your inventory via console code.
Those weapons they added with the DLC? They were always there, now they just exist for pickup in the game world.

On disc DLC. Fantastic. :| (I suppose Zion wasn't there....so I won't complain.) As long as its not horse armor. The next next two DLC's are going to be alot better, being open world and continuations. Something about locked in missions of the first two DLC's just doesn't work for me at all.

Play Half-Life They Hunger or any of the fantastic Sven Coop maps. Are You Afraid of Monsters is fun on sven coop. I suppose these are more level packs than mod overhauls of the game itself.
