I am just starting to get into video editing. I want to record VHS to CD. I have a VCR connected to an ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon and am running Ulead Video Studio 5.

My question is. What are the standard formats for Video (VCD, MPG, AVI)? Is it possible to record video to a CD and Play it in a DVD player? What format would be required?

If MPEG, what standard (NTSC or PAL), Size (640x480, 720x480, or other), audio format, video bit rate, and anything else I should know.

Also do I want to deinterlace, and what is this whole I vs. P vs. B stuff all about?

Please help a video ignoramus.

Thanks.

I am pretty sure video cds are mpeg1 and super video cd's are a mpeg2....

I think 320x240 and 640X480 are pretty standard as well...

PLay with the bitrate a bit as it makes a difference...Try sizes too...It seems mpeg1 doesn't scale well so you will want to make your video cd's close to their desired end use...
