I know some have the two that fold down from the side, but I need the bench seat, so i can fit a car seat on it. But I have no idea which ones have the bench and which have the fold down. What is the differance between extended cab and super cab. I thought maybe one was the bench and one was the fold down, but not sure.

If no one replies, Take a car seat with you to the dealership. I'm sure they'd be happy to let you test-fit one into the vehicles. You could go with that explorer highbrid that has 4doors and a mini-pickup bed, but, I suppose you need to fit a 4x8 plywood in the bed at the sametime?

Nope, i just want the ranger, especially a splash would be cool, plus I want the one with the bench seat. Thanks for the info though

I don't think Ford offers anything but the jump seats on extended cab Rangers, due to size limitations. I haven't kept up with Rangers as of late so I may be wrong.

I've owned all but the last generation of Ford Rangers, all, including current have the jump seats. Toyota puts benches in their small truck.

I sorta think that's a bad idea - my friend's 98 Tacoma has em and they might as well have put in jumper seats because anyone who rides back there always ends up turned sideways anyway. That might be good for kids but not a full grown man/woman.

I haven't seen a Ranger with rear bench seats in the US.

First Drive: 2001 Ford Ranger

The Ranger is available in Regular or SuperCab configurations, with the SuperCab comprising 60 percent of sales. No, they haven't altered the less-than-accommodating fold-down rear seats (One editor recounted a tale of how he drove to a restaurant with his ex and her current flame in the rear. Not that he harbors any resentment, mind you, but it amused him to see said current flame all scrunched up). If you opt for the Regular Cab, you get a choice of the regular 6- or the longer 7-foot box. You can also choose from the Flareside or Styleside, but we maintain that the Flareside not only reduces bed size but makes the truck look bottom-heavy.

Compact pickups don't serve the transportation needs of family or bodyguards, except in South America where the Ford Ranger is offered in a four-door crew-cab configuration.

I think I may pick up a used Jeep Cherokee.

Biggest problem is the physics applied to rear seat occupants heads, proximity or the rear window, the thought of getting rear ended, stopping suddenly or rapid launch.

The reason I don't own a current generation of the Ranger is that I slammed one too many heads into the rear glass...
