We're only in like our first week of summer (weather wise) and it's already crazy at work. Going to be a crazy summer I think! Lot of forest fires, people not calling before they dig, power outages and just a mix of fun stuff. A few towns we have equipment at have been evacuated too. I stayed half an hour later today just to try to finish up some stuff so I'm not leaving a mess for my cross shift. Tomorrow should be a fun day since I'm in there alone. I may call in someone else if it gets too crazy.

Netflix finally has implemented it's new stance against password sharing outside of the household. That's fine with me but they have some bugs to work out.

So now when you first log on on a device there's a message it's not an approved device or something, a few clicks and they send an email with a link. No problem but I have done this at least five times on our main TV (Samsung). The other TV's seem ok after going through this only once or twice.

I share my AppleTV and HBO accounts with my sisters family's and they share their Netflix with me. She sent me the invite email and it worked just fine, let me associate my current user name there with this new and approved password sharing account.

So I had to relocate my hose a while back and finally got around to testing it as the weather is now above freezing. It works, but the pressure is garbage. Normally I can shoot the water very far and now it just falls in front of me, like an old man peeing. No idea if it's an issue with the actual hose silcock or what but something is restricting flow in the system. It may also have to do with the fact that I'm using the crimp pex system and by nature those fittings do restrict flow a lot, but the other hose used that system too... so I don't know why the pressure is super suxor. If I want to fill 55 gal drums for camp with that it's going to take like a day just to fill one. Going to be faster to use the submersible pump and get lake water but was hoping to use clean house water as much as I can.

So I got around to checking this further, turns out according to reviews this brand (Aqua Dynamic) only last a few years and then start leaking but I did learn that the internal bits can slide right out. So I did that and turned the water on and it was ending up pretty far into my neighbour's yard gushing right out of the house straight out of where the valve normally goes. So that confirms my plumbing is not the cause of the pressure drop but the internal bits of the actual silcock. I was trying to figure out how it even works as there appears to be some very small gaps where the water can enter, if that's really how it works... no freaking wonder the pressure sucks. I think I'm going to end up just having to replace this whole thing and call it a write off since the water pressure coming out of it is just unusable.

Picturesque hike I was on today ended taking twice as long as expected. Saw some nice scenery at the expense of a super sore knee. Now propped on the couch on the phone. Woe is me.

This helps: https://www.verywellhealth.com/reverse-walking-in-physical-therapy-5075727

Reverse walking may help increase knee extension range of motion. If you have a knee injury, knee surgery, or knee arthritis, you may have a loss of knee extension, which is your knee’s ability to straighten.

While walking backward, your bent knee straightens fully while you are moving from your toes onto your heel. This helps to improve the range of motion into knee extension.

I'm off this week and was planing to go start clearing trees on my off grid land but it's suppose to be cold and rainy all week. I actually have the furnace running right now.

There's lot of things I can do here ahead of time though so will just focus on that stuff.

idk man. If you're gonna let some cold and rain prevent you from working on your land, how are you going to live off-grid?

Off grid does not mean no shelter. It's just that I don't have a shelter actually built yet. I don't even have a place to store tools yet. So I need at least a stretch of dry weather so I can build that. Even a basic tarp shelter will do. I don't want to get my power tools wet, they're not exactly made for that. Working in the rain is also miserable as hell. Even once I'm off grid I won't be doing anything outside when it rains if I don't have to.

This is just a small crack in his impenetrable plans. I mean who needs to go out and do shit when it's raining if you are living fully self-sufficient? I mean repairs, fixing shit, farming, raising animals. Only on sunny nice warm days bro!

Pretty sure middle of nowhere doesn't count as first world.

Pretty sure middle of nowhere doesn't count as first world.

Well it's his post and plus, yes he lives in the first world, all the problems he brings upon himself to live off-grid IN a first-world country because he is so hopelessly unprepared, are still, well, first-world problems brought upon by a first-world citizen, living in a first-world country. Just because they are a moron does not change that 🙂

Wanted to take the kids for lunch today. Headed over to In n Out not remembering that it was Sunday. Got there and ended up having to grab Panda Express to take home because all the churchers were out in force.
