You know what's driving me nuts lately? YouTube tech product reviews. They're filled with shiny new tech products like Ryzen 5900X processors and GeForce 3080 video cards... THAT YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY BUY. They're sold out everywhere, and probably will be until March.

Seriously, why are the manufacturers sending out so many demo products to tech bloggers? They aren't even coming close to meeting the existing demand as is.

I noticed this trend too. Pretty much anything new that comes out you can't actually buy. Good luck trying to get a GPU right now. It's been that way for years with GPUs. Game consoles, same thing. You would think companies would learn that when they release a new product and create lot of hype... people are actually going to want to buy it! So build more than 1,000 units.

Not that I tend to buy the latest and greatest anyway, so it does not really affect me, but it's definitely something I've noticed.

Its cheap advertising.
You send out a 300 dollar video card (wholesale price) and some jackass does all the work advertising it for you. Because its called a review people dont think of it as advertising so it works even better.

That always hurts. About $200 to fill my tank lol. About every 3-4 weeks or so. One of these days if I get a property and build a big garage I want to keep it as a project truck and convert it to electric. the batteries are hard to get here in Canada though. I only know of one place to buy them and it comes up to around $800 per kwh so not cheap.

My F150 has a 36 gallon(US) tank At current prices, ($2.59/gal) a fillup from empty is about $93. The 3.5 ecoboost averages around 20 mpg.

Dreamed I was eating a Trump-brand ice lolly. It was bright orange and "Trump-shaped" in some ill-defined way. I choked on it, and woke to find I was literally choking.

Am disturbed by this on multiple levels!

I saw tons of peppermint ice cream at the Walmart. Meant to grab a tub on my last trip thru the grocery section.
I didn't.

That's Canadian dollars, right? It costs me about $24 to fill up my car, and I get gas roughly every 2-2.5 weeks.

I'm permanently locked out of the gmail acct that i use for Uber:

years ago i created a gmail acct specifically for Uber.
then i changed phone providers this month and didnt keep the phone # because i have google voice.
i never used the old phone provider's phone # but apparently gmail associates their email accts with the phone # that created the acct.

well, gmail wont let me into the acct with my new provider because i cant verify the security code it sent to my old phone #! o_O
(I cant verify it because i no longer have that phone #!)

and clicking on gmail's "i dont have the phone" is no help!
it just says it cant verify me as the owner of that acct.
WTF having that link for then!??!?!

so created yet another email addr (that isnt gmail) and linked it to my uber acct.

just averaged. I've gotten around 24 on the highway...and around 15 towing...but keep in mind, I could load your Civic into the bed of my truck...and not really notice it. :p

My God, you read my mind. I'm looking for RTX 3080 or RX 6800XT. Maybe try hanging out at Micro Center on delivery days

The most first world of all problems - it's winter. Ergo it's dark all the damn time. This is really getting me down. This country is too far North. It needs to be moved close to the equator.

I mean, top marks to our forebears for putting it on an island - sensible place to have a country if you ask me, for all sorts of reasons. But why at such a high latitude? That was dumb.

Yes that's pretty good mileage for a vehicle of that size.

I was cleaning up old VMs and doing rm -rf foldername & to delete a bunch of old VMs. & does it in background so I don't have to wait for each one.

Fumbled the keyboard and did * instead of &.

FML.

I don't have a backup solution in place to backup actual VMs since that's more complicated and I don't even know if there is a way with free/open source software since I'm on ESXI and rest of my environment is Linux. I managed to only lose my torrentbox in all of that, but still sucks as that thing was kind of a pain to setup properly.

I knew it was a bad idea playing around with the rm command at 5am.
Bummer! I did that in my first software job running Unix (SunOS). Asked my boss what to do and sent me down to see the Unix admins who had me up and running pretty quickly. I only lost a couple hundred lines of code since the nightly backup (nightlies were done only under our 'home' directory node).
