I got some non thermal long sleeve shirts for work from the thrift shop this weekend. I was checking them out to see which I wanted to wear tomorrow, and I like them all too much to wear to work. I always do that. I need to start buying ugly shit for my work clothes. Maybe pink izods :^/

why not plain shirts from walmart? they arent so beautiful that you'd wanna show them off.

Costs too much :^P

These aren't anything fancy. Just well made, nice looking shirts. All are tagless(big plus), and all have little wear. My favorite is the OD Eddie Bauer shirt with some subtle fishing decoration. That one will probably never go to work. Another is a plain heather grey, and is on the lighter side. The third is navy blue, and on the heavy side. Probably slightly less warm than a thermal. That one has the best odds of making it to work. It's a nice shirt, but I'm not a fan of navy blue. Too warm tomorrow for something slightly cooler than a thermal though. I guess it'll be a tshirt with my shitty poly/cotton buttonup I wear for work.

It's a mental illness. Everything has to go in it's special little category, and lines must never cross. Work stuff's always for work, and off duty stuff is always off duty. I wear the same damned clothes on or off work, but they're still kept separate :^D

I am being terrorized by fucking fruit flies(polishing off my dads home made wine).Although slow flying these fucking things are a pain.Bastards.

I went to pick some lottery tickets for the office pool last night and the clerk picked the wrong game. Powerball (345 million USD) instead of Megamillions (900 million USD). I ended up with both because I did not want to read this article in the local newspaper.... "Store clerk with big smile after he wins the Powerball jackpot of 345 million USD because the customer did not want those tickets".

Being the master chef that I am, I use timers on my phone in order to set every meal's cooking time and forget about it until the timer goes off.

Today I noticed that my phone was low on batteries, and at the same time I noticed it had a fair few updates to do. I set the timer for part of my meal, plugged the phone in to charge and set it off on the task of doing updates. Little did I know that the Clock app was in the updates list, so my phone dutifully restarted the app, didn't maintain the countdown timer I had set in it, all for the wonderful upgrade of changing the font and making the timer figures blue. After a while I suspected that I should have heard from the timer by now and realised what it had done.

What is up with Android doing font changes just for the sake of it anyway? I get used to a certain font then they go and change it again. It does not really affect usability at least, but it just seems like a completely unneeded thing to do.

What's up with android not trivially allowing fonts to be installed? Why do I need a special (cr)app blessed by the phone maker to change *my* phone? Android is a shit show, but it's the best show available if you want to use the device as it was intended, eg with "exotic" features like gps and bluetooth :^S

I have a Nokia and they rarely do anything weird.
I think its your phone, not Google.

Well it's Android. The phone does not really matter or do they actually have different versions for each company? Not sure what Nokias run these days, did not know they still made phones tbh. They are mostly on the carrier equipment side these days, think they're owned by Siemens now.

Pretty much every company that makes an Android handset adds their own special sauce.

If you want to see "pure" android, install Android x86 in a VM or fire up the emulator from the Android SDK. You'll quickly see a bunch of stuff that doesn't quite match up.

My housemate and I have handsets from two different manufacturers: I can't even figure out where her "show all installed apps" screen is. The lock screens don't act the same, her settings app is completely different... it's like using two different Linux DEs.

I wanted to climb my tree today and take it down, but it's pretty windy out. I /think/ I could take a full hit from the top pieces I'd be dropping, but there's no point in playing games 30' in the air. I guess I'll get back to work on my fallen oak :^/

For some god-forsaken reason my company decided to institute a "Headphones Policy" where headphones, earbuds, etc. are not allowed during working hours in your office/cube/work area unless you're on lunch break, and even then it's not allowed in your office/cube/work area. So wtf. Some people can't really work without listening to music or having headphones on, and it can get really loud in the lab sometimes.

The beginning of the memo mentioned some BS about the company always wanting to put "health and safety" first for the employees and customers. I've thought about it all day and I can't think of a single reason that this would affect our health and safety... maybe in the event that a fire alarm goes off and you can't hear it, but you would still be able to even with noise-cancelling headphones.

Anyways, I'm not signing it until HR or my boss comes directly to me and asks me to sign it. Even then, I'll still wear my headphones in my cube. Screw this policy to hell and back. I hope the headphone police write me up... 🙄

TBH I hate when people wear headphones at work, because they become oblivious to what is going on around them, such as the phone ringing, or someone trying to talk to them.

Where I work, headphones are almost necessary. When you're working on a board layout sometimes the only way to get into the zone is to put on headphones and listen to some good hip hop.

I bet this was written for some of the office/paper pusher workers upstairs and now we all have to suffer.

The people across the street bought whistles for their kids.

I hope it's this kind...

Oh yeah a job like that where you have your own thing to do, I can see. At my work we have to answer the phone so if someone puts headphones it makes you have to pickup their calls because they don't hear their line. They also won't answer if you ask a question. Had one guy that was super bad for that, he's not there anymore though.
