In my country, one of the two major parties is close to nominating a loudmouth nativist buffoon who wants to build walls, restrict immigration solely on the basis of religion, and return to high tariff policies from the 1920s and 1930s that helped exacerbate the Great Depression while my country's Senate is refusing to consider our President's Supreme Court nominee, even though his explicit right and their duty to consent is explicitly enumerated in our Constitution and the party stonewalling this considers themselves the party of STRICT constitutionalists.

Wait, wrong thread! Those are third world problems. 🙁

If Trump's the nominee you can bet it is the Senate that will pay for it in votes this November. Expect a Dem Senate and Hillary president to put forward Obama's name. Then half the people on this forum are going to have themselves a very serious first world problem.
 
I spent 10 minutes in P&N reading that drivel and decided I was better off not caring. When people base their arguments on outdated century old ideas and bias, they've already lost. It's no wonder this country is headed further downhill. People can't have an intelligent discussion around it.
 
My insurance agent said he never got my check that paid for a whole year of homeowner's insurance, to open the policy. Sent the check 12 days ago, his office is 15 miles away. GDMFSB. Called my bank, stopped the check. 😡

unfortunately, there's still too many variables to be confident that Hilary will be Prez.

1) Trump doesn't have a near lock on the nomination like Hilary.
but He needs to win for Hilary to have a cake walk to the White House.
unfortunately, trump still needs win 60% of the remaining primaries to get the nomination.
The only way Hilary's going to lose the nomination is if she gets indicted.

2) Hilary might get indicted

Found a wash trade in my taxes -- substantially similar trade -- so I adjusted everything. I now owe $5 more to the gubment... Good thing I caught that one.
 
last night I drunk shopped a new graphics card and gaming mechanical keyboard. by the time i woke up they had already shipped. i guess that means i have to keep them.
 
Got a new power supply but when I went to hook it up instead of having an 8 pin CPU power cord and a 24 pin motherboard cord it has two 4 prong cpu cords side by side (and a 20+4 motherboard cord) that I had to hold together and push in simultaneously.

On my first attempt the first plug went in but the other one only went in part way. I had to try again and again, my fingers bumping and nudging capacitors and all sorts of stuff while I tried tirelessly to get both prongs in all the way. By then my fingers were kind of sore and pinchy. 🙁

*sigh* The downsides of having a power supply with versatility.
 
It has been very warm (high 80s/low 90s in March) lately around here and the TV in my bedroom is freaking hot so I did have to turn on the ceiling fan in order to sleep. It will be hot in the summer for sure. Darn plasma TV.
 
I have a bunch of business ideas that can fit under one roof but keep thinking it's a "not for me" kind of thing.

Now I'm remembering that a lot of fresh immigrants from third-world countries come here with minimal command of the language, knowledge of local laws, and money, but manage to make it work... what's my excuse again?

Edit: Looking at commercial properties in my area. What I thought were successful businesses are being sold for $100k to $200k... whaaaaaaaaaa?

Often times a successful business is one that is worth zero. The value of a business you buy is the net present value of all future cash flows discounted by the cost of replacing the person(s) you will lose when you purchase (the big boss who's usually paid himself minimum wage and taken his real paycheck in capital gains).

If a business makes 90k a year after expenses but Big Bob was only paying himself 20k and it would take a 100k MBA to replace the talent required to run the business; then you're investing in something that pays back 10k a year. At that rate 200k isn't unreasonable; and it may be overpriced.

Now if you scrape together a 200k 401k after 10 years of matching funds in your 65k job; and you then buy a business that lets you move up to 110k a year, you've probably made a fairly good investment because you didn't have that earning potential before.

Very often people buy into an existing small business just to buy themselves a job... which is fine if you couldn't get a better job elsewhere and you love what you'll be doing.

But being the Big Boss doesn't really put you in charge, it actually makes you the servant of all.
