irrationally freaking out because I emailed a guy my resume at 8 pm and he never sent me a confirmation email that he received it (and otoh, I'm probably the only weirdo who sends emails like "I have nothing to add to this conversation right now, but I just wanted to confirm that I've seen and read this email")

hmm...this one should still be availabe. $1199 for 11lbs (that's $300 off!)

Japanese Wagyu Boneless Ribeye Roast A-5 Grade

Heh, yeah, I'll stick having Wagyu in decent restaurants. Not sure I would do it justice at home.

read the following restaurant review and makes me sad that i live in a world with this kind of shit (emphasis added):

Ugh, I can't stand this crap. Reviewing places for what they are not, not for what they are. Also stupid morons who give a place one star because it was too busy so they couldn't get a table. 🙄 Those morons should have their accounts deleted.

It isn't irrational to follow up. Just be polite and ask if he did, in fact, receive the resume. If he is offended you are diligent when it comes to important things, you likely don't want to work there.

the freakout is irrational... I just don't want to come across as a needy/paranoid fuck given that it hasn't even been 24 hours.

I might give it a couple days and then call him if I don't hear any word. I'm also pretty sure I found the job posting online that the guy hunted me for, debating if I should fill out the application on the website or not.

My 4 year old laptop's battery only has 15 minutes or so of life at full charge -- it had about 2 hours when new... I don't know if I should replace it with a new one for $130 or just get a new laptop. Also concerned about battery wear on brand new batteries because they've probably been sitting on the shelf for a while. The machine's otherwise perfect, looks new... Just heavy and big, not so portable.

Eh, I'd email right away to get confirmation he received it. If he did, no harm. If he didn't, potential avoidance of harm.

crisis resolved, guy called me.

hopefully I'm on my way out of this dump soon (though, he reiterated again that the new company has a pretty long hiring process since they're a large, bureaucratic organization, which I guess is bound to happen when you've existed since the 1800's)

i want to be pissed at the rain for wreaking havoc on socal traffic but the sound of it draining down the office pipes resembles a soothing bamboo fountain. you can't get mad at that shit.

My five-year-old HDTV is failing so I had to take advantage of Cyber Monday pricing to buy a much, much larger replacement with inferior image quality. Unfortunately, it was out of stock, so even though the price is locked in, I won't see it for several weeks. Meanwhile the wife and I need to buy new furniture to house it and figure out how to get rid of the old failing set with an unknown timetable of when we can expect the replacement. And I need to figure out how to babyproof the whole thing so I don't end up on the news as the deadbeat whose daughter knocked a 65 inch TV over on herself.

Wanted to log into the PIA VPN website to find out when my term expires. Couldn't find the stupid log in for users on their site, had to Google, "login PIA." LAME! Can't wait till my term is up and I go with VPN.AC

I finished my tea that I made 8 hours ago and that's been collecting dust... Now my mouth tastes weird.

I forgot to put my Redbull in the fridge before I went to sleep. Now I'm at work with a warm Redbull, and I am a sad panda 🙁

Currently vacationing in Phnom Penh, staying in a guesthouse ($15/night), and the place gets flooded due to a nearby dam breakage. Since I'm on the lower floor I was over ankle deep in water full of garbage & sewer. Half my clothes were still in luggage and soaked.

Oh wait..I'm in a developing country so it's not a 1st world problem after all. Not a happy camper ATM.

I had a bizarre reaction to the affordable and widely available antibiotics used to treat a minor sinus infection that could have become a life-threatening illness without access to medication, so now I have to walk around with spotchy skin for a few days. Fuck you medicine!

Allergic to penicillin?
